{"id":105,"date":"2009-08-27T23:21:07","date_gmt":"2009-08-28T04:21:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/s222061487.onlinehome.us\/GeekyThingz\/?p=105"},"modified":"2009-08-27T23:21:07","modified_gmt":"2009-08-28T04:21:07","slug":"using-robocopy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.geekythings.me\/?p=105","title":{"rendered":"Using Robocopy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This is more of a techinical post but I need to sing the praises of this wonderful free command line program from Microsoft: Robocopy.  <\/p>\n<p>I have used robocopy in many of the VBScripts that I have written over the years because of it&#8217;s flexiblity and well&#8230;. its robustness (Hence the name <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Robocopy\">ROBOcopy<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>This little program adds a a fine level of control in the way to copy files from one location to another. Some of the things you can do are:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Mirror a folders contents to another location, deleting anything that does not belong.<br \/>\n&#8211; Copy files of a certian size.<br \/>\n&#8211; Copy files of a certain age.<br \/>\n&#8211; Copy files without attibutes like hidden, system or read-only.<br \/>\n&#8211; Copy files without the NTFS security.<br \/>\n&#8211; Create a log of the copy process.<\/p>\n<p>The major thing that I love about this program is that it resume the copy of a large file if it is interrupted with the \/z switch.
